Mabe we were not looking for a striker until the liverpool game and maybe WBA agreed last minute to sign Cole so we had to find a replacement that didnt happen so it fell through .
What are the loan rules outside of the window anyway ?

I think it was Caulker(in exchange for Jarvis. Harry said he didn't want Jarvis,then changed his mind when he thought he could get rid of Zarate) and Distin. I think Allardyce wanted him.
Kaboul was another rumour but he wanted to stay at totts.

Several clubs in the same position as us with a series of deals not happening largely because, atthis stage of the season in order to maintain the squad size and depth, player moves are interdependent.
Think many are being a tad harsh on the owners IMHO. They are by no means perfect but as a 55 year follower and having talked in years gone by to my Dad,Grandad and Uncles about past owners, even before the Cearns, they are by far and away the best we have ever had.
They may not compare as well, in investment terms, to the mega rich billionnaires or Sheiks but our "Dildo Bros" are not half bad. We may only realise that in the future.

It would be a dig at Fletcher, surely? I doubt Allardyce had any influence over the length of the contract Fletcher wanted.
